Happy Monday!
I understand that the Richwood area is in a severe heat warning location. With temperatures in the 90's and the heat index in the
100's. I did type "so", but then I changed my mind about that kind of sarcasm... That's what it's like here all of the time! You
kind of get used to it, at the same time, the a/c is appreciated! It is very easy to sweat when it's like that! Drink plenty of fluids! And
watch out for the young ones and the elderly, they can't take the heat as easily.
Surprise, surprise, surprise! That sentence goes back a few years for those of you that are old enough to remember Gomer Pyle!
I'm saying it because on our way through Puerto Cortez this morning, the bus I had my eye on is back! They must have needed it for some reason. We are trying to negotiate a good price and a better payment structure. Lord willing!
We got the wide flange beam installed in the kitchen today, fits like a glove! Working on the notches for the carport beam.
Today is Thursday, it's been sprinkling all day! That is a nice change! The temperature has dropped some too, 10-15 degrees! We
picked Nick, Nikki and Zach up at the airport yesterday, they had a safe trip. Spent the night in Omoa after eating at La Plaza! We traveled to La Ceiba this morning. The team jumped right in alongside the crew, helping out! Nick and Zach had been a little bored, they got to change that with a sledgehammer, a concrete wall that had to be torn down and a wheelbarrow! The sweat flowed freely! Now that the wall is gone between the kitchen and the dining room, we'll be able to see how that room looks opened up. The ladies are busy cooking lunch, going to be a late lunch as we didn't get here very early, and we needed some groceries before they could start cooking. Chicken and rice soup, very good as always!
Another God moment happened this morning. Jerry woke up at 2:30am with the feeling that he needed to message someone specific
about donating some money towards the bus. The message was sent, received and half a day later he got a response that they were
going to donate enough for half of the downpayment!! Praise the Lord! We have enough now for the down payment! We'll be
in contact with the seller to see if he will accept our offer and proceed with the sale. Excited is a good word, that God would choose to
release some of His money to help us! What a blessing! This was after a day of not being able to transport the entire team in one vehicle
because it was raining! We needed to use Beto and Sindy's car too.. God's plan!
We went to Roatan Friday (a nice coincidence that it was Tammy and my anniversary! ) with the team, it was their "excursion" part
of their trip. When we arrived in Roatan, after a very rough ferry ride where a lot of people got sick including a couple of our group, we bus taxied to our hotel. It was on the west end, with a 3-minute walk to where our snorkeling appointment was. It was a nice spot, out of the way of the hustle and bustle, very pretty, we had a view of the sea, our own dock to walk out on, gazebos, very nice!
We also had another God moment while there! Nikki had started a conversation with a lady who was reading her bible, around 50 feet
from where we were walking to eat dinner. Nikki came and got me, we went back to talk to the lady, ended up praying for her and her family and their struggling business! And, they have a house they want built in Roatan, one that has a bad foundation and needs major repairs and another house they want built in La Ceiba! They don't have much money, but a lot of plans! It may be an opportunity for us to work with them off and on when they have money and possibly do some construction with teams that come. A very interesting
relationship that was formed! The next day we went back intentionally to talk to them and help out by going snorkeling with their
company! Which turned into a long boat tour, even to the dolphin park! Thank you Lord for the people that you put in our lives!
The ferry ride back to La Ceiba was a lot smoother! Then we hopped in the vehicles and headed for Omoa! Beto's vehicle needed to
pick up Cristel to bring her to Omoa for a party Sunday. My vehicle headed for Cofradia to pick up Cesar and Jeimy and kids, for the
party. We didn't get back until midnight!
Happy Sunday! It's been a long couple of days! A lot of relationship building, meeting new people, communing with God! Enjoying the
wonderful world that He made for us to live in! Count our blessings, name them one by one! We are so very blessed!
It's 10:00 pm, I'm running out of things to say, even though we had a multitude of experiences this week! My brain is going to sleep before I do... lol.... Good night, buenas noches!
Blessings, John and Tammy
